How Aizaz Ali Shah's Swiss experience became Mardan's most ambitious educational project.

Every school begins with a person who believes something can be better. For Monarch Education System, that person is Aizaz Ali Shah — a Mardan-born visionary who built his professional life in Switzerland and never stopped thinking about the children he left behind.

A Vision Born Abroad

Living and working in Switzerland gave Aizaz a firsthand look at what world-class education produces — not just academically successful individuals, but confident, curious, self-reliant human beings. He saw students who were taught to think independently, to question respectfully, and to pursue knowledge not for marks, but for meaning.

He also saw, with great clarity, what was missing for the children of Mardan. Talented, capable, full of potential — but educated in a system that too often rewarded memorisation over understanding, and compliance over creativity.

The Decision to Build Something Different

Aizaz did not simply observe the gap — he decided to close it. Monarch Education System was founded on the conviction that geography should not determine the quality of a child's education. The children of Mardan deserve the same internationally relevant learning experience as children in Zurich, London, or Dubai.

But he also knew that truly great education cannot be an import. It must be rooted in the local culture, language, and values of the community it serves. This is why Monarch combines the Oxford International Curriculum with the AFAQ framework for Urdu and Islamic Studies — bringing the best of the world to Mardan, without losing what makes Mardan great.
